AMERC Library

AMERC has a small library at the main offices in Berea.  This collection includes works about Appalachian history and culture, church and related group management, rural life, coal, environment,  and other books that are applicable to AMERC classes.  We also have a small collection of Appalachian fiction and a library of children's literature, which we share with other organizations in the Berea community .  We also have some Appalachian music and videos which our students can use.

The main AMERC library is housed at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and contains around 2,000 volumes, with emphasis on small church development, environment, community and economic development, family farm and agriculture, religious context and social context, all primarily concerning the Appalachian region. Whereas the library focuses on these issues, many others are represented in our collection. The library at Sewanee has incorporated this library into its collection and there is no separate catalog at that location.

AMERC staff, mentors and/or instructors & students of seminars funded by AMERC have complete access to the collection for the duration of the course for which they are being requested.
